Donations Needed

Donations Needed

We have a very special bingo night happening in December, where we will be raising the money to buy a defibrillator for Marshland St James. There is no defibrillator currently available in the village, and we aim to change this by raising the £1000 we need.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a condition of which no one is immune from. From children to adults, to fitness fanatics and couch potatoes; everyone and anyone is susceptible to cardiac arrest with over 30,000 occurring in the UK each year alone with little to no prior symptoms before a collapse.

The only definitive treatment against SCA is the life-saving shock from a defibrillator. Pairing this along with effective CPR can help to increase a victim’s chance of survival from 6% to 74% if delivered within the first 3-5 minutes of collapse.

To help us reach our £1000 target we are looking for donations for our special bingo night. If you have anything to would like to give you can drop donations off at Marshland Hall 9-3 Monday to Friday, or send us a message and we can collect from you at a time to suit.

Let's make this happen and install this vital piece of equipment in the village!

Event Planning

4th November 2019
Event Planning

It's as busy as always here at the hall - half term is barely behind us and we are now looking forward to our Christmas planning!

We would love to run a Santa's Grotto here at the hall this Christmas, so discussions are well underway as to how we make that happen. We are thinking Winter Wonderland with about a million fairy lights and Santa on a throne...watch this space! With all of the event planning in hand, we are also on the lookout for a new event coordinator as sadly I will be leaving after Christmas. My family and home commitments have grown at an alarming rate this year and I have decided that I need more time to deal with the demands of daily life outside of our lovely hall. It truly is a job that I love doing, and it breaks my heart to be leaving. On the positive side, it opens up an opportunity for someone else to come and take the reins and have an amazing time here. So, if you are interested, please get in touch!

Til next time,

Tracy x

The Calm Before the Storm...

The Calm Before the Storm...

It's Sunday afternoon, the chicken is in the oven, and I have a pile of potatoes and veg to peel. You would think I live alone in my house, as every man and boy mysteriously vanishes when the peeler comes out of the drawer (husband included!).

If you are thinking about the Half Term week ahead with the kids at home and not many plans on the horizon, then let us do the hard work for you - we've got the middle of the week covered! Tuesday it's Nerf Wars at the hall where the staff often become a walking target for all your kids with a Nerf Gun in their hands and a trigger finger with a mischievous owner! Wednesday it's time to burn off some energy in our very popular Multi Sports session; and then Thursday will get those brains ticking over with our Marshland Hall Mystery Day!

We hope to see lots of you at the hall next week - we've got Half Term sorted!

Last Night's Clairvoyant Evening

Last Night's Clairvoyant Evening

What a fantastic evening we had last night here at the Hall! Renowned medium Loraine Rees paid us a visit and the hall was sold out for her clairvoyant evening. Loraine was very entertaining and a good night was had by all. Unfortunately she doesn't do many shows anymore, but always pays us a visit each year, so we can't wait to see her again next year. Keep your eyes peeled for details of her next event here, or follow her on Facebook or her website for a full list of all her shows up and down the country.

Hall Hire for your Special Event

Here at Marshland Hall, we have a venue and facilities suitable for a wide range of events. From conferences and training, to sports and leisure hire. If you would like to hire the hall for a special event please call us on 01945 430414, or pop into the hall for a chat.

We are also keen to get many more community groups using us as the hub of the village - do you have a group who need a venue? Perhaps you are looking to start a new hobby or club, and want a place for like-minded people to meet up - we are open to a wide range of interests! We currently have lots of groups using the hall, but welcome new ideas...perhaps a sewing group, friendship club, board game enthusiasts, hobbyists, cycle club, Warhammer group, netball, bridge, basketball...the list is quite endless!

If you have an idea for a new group, we'd love to hear it and will do our very best to help you get up and running - in fact, perhaps a running club with a coffee afterwards!

Marshland Hall: Mission Impossible

19th September 2019
Marshland Hall: Mission Impossible

Today I am going to try and get my head around a new Half Term Activity I have planned at the hall. I do like to keep coming up with different things for the kids to do, and the Treasure Hunt went down well (although it was only a slight variation on our very popular Easter Egg Hunt!) So, I have in my head a spy mission/mystery whodunnit for the kids to get their teeth into. As with most of my events, it is currently a collection of half-baked ideas floating around inside my head...fingerprints, trip wires, a mystery to solve, a line of suspects... Today the idea is to bring all those together into some sort of plan.

Another event is also always in the background, as I like to have lots of different prizes for our monthly prize bingo - with over 100 prizes to buy, it is a lot of shopping! Luckily for me - and as my husband will confirm - I am a great shopper! I am planning a huge fundraising bingo for our Christmas special in December, so that is always in the back of my mind (along with the trip wires and line of suspects!) and I am always on the lookout for bits to add to the 'Christmas Pile' that I have started. Any donations of any size are always welcome - you can drop them off at the hall, or I can collect if that is more convenient. Next month's prizes, however, will be coming from Springfields in Spalding, as I have a shopping trip planned this Sunday to cover that. If you haven't been along to our bingo night before, you are very welcome! The next one is on October 14th - the doors open at 6:30, and we usually start at 7:15. Hope to see you all there. For now I am off to plan Mission Impossible (or something similar) - wish me luck!
