This Week at the Hall

15th July 2019
This Week at the Hall

Good morning all!

This week at the hall I am busy planning for our Summer Activity programme, which has now been printed. All last night I was pondering the Treasure Hunt, and how to turn the clues, into answers, into letters, into numbers, and finally into prizes! Turns out a good night's sleep really does help as I woke with the solution - hurrah! Now just the work to get it all organised and ready for August 5th.

Then we have our usual multi sports, which James takes the lead on - so I don;t really have to do much apart from spread the word. The Teddy Bear's Picnic is the first event I have to plan for on July 29th, and I am almost there. Just a few more teddy bears to go out and get tomorrow, the Lucky Dip is done but not wrapped (this afternoon's job) and then I just have to create the display on the day with a picnic blanket filled with teddies having their tea! Teddies will be available to buy on the day, as well as a children's Lucky Dip and a special children's menu.

Well, better get off now as I have over 100 ;lucky dip prizes that need wrapping...

Til next time,

NCT Get-together

10th July 2019
NCT Get-together

I'm really looking forward to the NCT holding their July meeting at the Hall this month. Already great supporters of us here, they will be getting together at the end of the month for a big play date, and we shall be putting on a couple of craft activities just for them alongside the soft play. I have no problem in admitting I am baby and toddler-obsessed, my own children having grown up now, so the opportunity to have some fun with the little ones is too good an opportunity to miss! You will see lots of children-based activities being added to the Marshland Hall list of 'things to do' over the coming months, as it's what I feel I know and do best. So if you have a little person in tow please do come along to one of our upcoming children's events!

It's Bingo Day!

It's Bingo Day!

Good morning all!

I hope you've had a lovely weekend and are ready for the week ahead. There were grand plans in our household to get the garden sorted, have a BBQ, catch up on a box set or two - the reality was sleeping in a bit too late and then playing catch-up on all of the house things that didn't get sorted during the week while we were busy working! Oh well, there's always next weekend I suppose (I'm sure the weeds won't complain about another week of honing their trifid skills).

If you are looking for something to do this evening then come and join us at the hall for our Family Bingo Night. Doors open at 6:30, eyes down 7:15 and it's a really fun evening.

See you soon,

Tracy x

The week ahead

1st July 2019
The week ahead

Is it just me, or do these Mondays roll around far too quickly! What a glorious weekend of sunshine it was - I didn't quite get round to getting the BBQ fired up but it was a nice relaxing weekend all the same. Hope you all did something lovely too.

This week kicks off with a birthday, as James the Centre Manager celebrates his today and becomes as old as me. I have a full 3 months on him so naturally I like to think that makes me wiser... We will be busy this morning in a Nerf Wars summit meeting as we plan our Summer programme for the kids, so that should be fun. Yoga is currently on in the hall for another half an hour or so (they are looking very relaxed), and Soft Play is happening too. Later on this afternoon we have Line Dancing as usual, as well as all of our regulars who like to pop in for a cuppa.

If you are nearby today then pop in and say hello - we have Gill in the Tea Room today who will be happy to serve you. She is currently cooking up some bacon baps which has reminded me it must be time for breakfast!

Til next time,

You can also complete your Food Hygiene Certificate while working with us too. A variety of morning and afternoon shifts are available, and you can work a one-off shift as and when you have the time, or a regular shift if that suits. Don't forget there's also as much free tea and coffee as you can drink too! Give us a call or pop into the hall for a chat about how you can become our next volunteer!
